Bing Maps Snap to Road API now with Truck mode
News|3 April 2020
Microsoft has updated its Bing Maps Snap to Road API to support Truck mode.
The Snap to Road API converts the GPS points of assets to a corresponding set of co-ordinates of the nearest roads. This feature is important when tracking assets, as GPS devices can lose their connection resulting in an incomplete or inaccurate collection of GPS points. Using this API, fleet managers can track the daily routes of technicians visiting customer locations to ensure efficient service. They can also monitor vehicle speeds against posted limits to ensure safe driving and compliancy.
Truck mode now provides this information for trucks, where managers can specify the truck attributes to ensure the routes are optimised and speed limits are maintained for trucks and heavy vehicles.
