JetBrains Licensing Guide
Guides|by Leanne Bevan|4 July 2024
Software licensing can often be complex which may mean your organisation might mistakenly choose the wrong licence or miss out on great discounts available.
That’s where licensing specialists like Grey Matter can help.
Here is a breakdown of the different licensing available by developer tool specialists, JetBrains. There is also an overview of the licence management portal, Licence Vault.
All Products Pack
Access all the JetBrains desktop tools in one licence with the JetBrains All Products Pack.
Use different tools for different projects on multiple machines as and when you need them. Easily switch between the tools under the All Products Pack licence.
Licence management is made easy as you get unlimited access to all the tools in one licence, making procurement and renewals a breeze.

Other JetBrains Licensing Discounts
Universities
Universities and educational institutions can use 50% off commercial subscriptions to develop internal projects and applications.
Students
Student licence holders can get a 40% Graduation discount, which can be used to purchase a new personal subscription for any JetBrains product or the All Products pack. The same 40% Graduation discount is offered to students of coding boot camps and training courses who have used free coupon codes during their training.
Non-profit organisations
Registered non-profit organisations can apply for a special discount ranging from 25% to 50% off commercial pricing, depending on their business model.

Licence Vault
Licence Vault is a licence management system that enables you to efficiently distribute JetBrains IDE licences for your entire organisation, providing flexibility to scale as you grow. Your team members get the JetBrains IDEs and plugins they need without delay and can manage the payments later.
Get secure access with single sign-on
Easily set up the authentication module accepted within your company through JetBrains Hub, the authorisation tool provided with each Licence Vault.
Distribute licences automatically
Licence Vault distributes product licences by automatically assigning them to users. All the user needs to do is launch the IDE and enter the Licence Vault URL. The licence will immediately become available!
Get real-time statistics
Review dashboards for the licences used by your team members, analyse real-time data, and filter reports by product and time.
Set up rules for licence usage
Configure access rules to restrict or provide access to the licences owned by your team. Set up priority rules for users who need to be able to obtain a licence, even if none are available.
Use additional licences and pay later
Use True-Up to get licences in addition to those you’ve already purchased so your team can work without interruptions. Pay for the additional licences at the end of the billing period.
There are two types of cloud-hosted plans available as part of Licence Vault.

Organisation True-Up Plan
This is for teams that need to scale quickly as they grow.
- Efficiently distribute purchased licences for your entire team.
- Use Licence Vault for free with the licences you own.
- True-up: at peak usage times, automatically get up to 30% more licences.
- Pay for additional licences later.
Enterprise Floating Plan
Maximising flexibility and services while optimising costs for enterprises:
Efficiently distribute purchased licences for your entire team and optimise the number of licences your team needs. Enterprise-level support included.
Floating (concurrent) mode lets you quickly transfer licences between users. If one of your team members stops using their IDE, the licence becomes available for someone else within 20 minutes.
At the end of the period, only pay an additional 20% of the basic license price for the licences used in floating mode. There is no surcharge for unused licences.
Do you still need to scale up without interrupting the flow of business? Turn on the True-Up option. At peak usage times, automatically get up to 30% more licences and pay for them later.
