Sophos has collated that info for you. They've recently released the latest version of their handy State of Ransomware report which reveals the reality of ransomware in 2025.

What's in the State of Ransomware in 2025 report?

This year’s report details how organisations’ experiences of ransomware - both cause and consequences - have evolved over the last 12 months. It also shines light into previously unexplored areas, including the operational factors that left organisations exposed to attack and the human impact of incidents on the IT/cybersecurity team.
Based on the real-world frontline experiences of 3,400 IT and cybersecurity leaders across 17 countries whose organisations were hit by ransomware in the last year, the report provides unique insights into:
  1. Why organisations like yours fall victim to ransomware
  2. What happens to the data
  3. Ransoms: Demands and payments
  4. Business impact of ransomware
  5. Human impact of ransomware

It's well worth a read as ransomware is one of the biggest threats out there that you need to be aware of. Protected against. And have tactics in place should it happen to your business. Deep Strike notes that ransomware affects 59% of organisations, with average recovery costs of $3.58 million.
