Intel oneAPI FAQ Part 3: How to transition to oneAPI
Blog|by Leanne Bevan|19 January 2021

In the previous parts of this blog series, we explained what Intel oneAPI is and how it is licensed, it’s now time to explore how you can transition from Intel Parallel Studio XE or Intel System Studio to the relevant toolkit.
Can you get a free upgrade from current Parallel Studio and System Studio editions to oneAPI commercial products?
Yes, but only if you have active support. You will be provided with an upgrade link in the Intel Registration Center. Please contact us for information on pricing and promotions to make the most out of upgrading.
Do you still use an old Parallel Studio or System Studio product?
Contact us to explore how you can benefit from using the new Intel oneAPI Toolkits with support.
What happens to your current Parallel Studio or System Studio products when you upgrade?
The current serial number associated with the Parallel Studio or System Studio edition will be retired and a new serial number will be assigned to your Intel Registration Center (IRC) record. It will have the remainder of the support period assigned to the serial number. Although it is easy to upgrade by yourselves directly from your IRC account, you may be missing on some special promotions dedicated to upgrade and extend your support. Please get in touch with us before you take that step.
Will you still be able to use the FlexLM licence for Parallel Studio or System Studio for the oneAPI products?
No, the FlexLM licence is no longer needed nor used for the oneAPI commercial products. The oneAPI commercial products with support are sold and used as per the EULA, product description and limitations.
