95% Revenue for Selling Apps on Microsoft Store
Blog|by Leanne Bevan|2 April 2019
Microsoft has updated their Microsoft Store App Developer Agreement.
Within this updated agreement is a new fee structure that delivers up to 95% of the revenue back to consumer app developers. To receive the full 95% revenue, you will need make sure that you instrument your referring traffic URLs with a custom ID.
When Microsoft delivers a customer to the app through other methods (tracked by an OCID or custom campaign ID), such as when the customer discovers the app in a Microsoft Store collection, through Microsoft Store search, or via any other Microsoft-owned properties, then you will receive 85% of the revenue from that purchase.
However, when there is no custom campaign ID or OCID aligned to the purchase, in the instance of a web search, you will receive 95% revenue.
The new fee structure applies to app purchases made on all Windows 10 PCs, Windows Mixed Reality, Windows 10 Mobile as well as Surface Hub devices. However, the new structure excludes all games and purchases made on Xbox consoles.
The updated Microsoft Store App Developer Agreement can be found here.
