New chat-based workspace, Microsoft Teams, moves to general availability
News|by Leanne Bevan|15 March 2017
Microsoft has released their new chat-based workspace in Office 365 – Microsoft Teams. It enhances the collaboration capabilities of Office 365, adding more value to help you capture new customers and re-engage current customers.
Keep everyone engaged with threaded, persistent chat and features such as audio calling from mobile devices, video on Android (soon to come to iOS and Windows phone too), and the ability to email a channel (including attachments), send markdown-based formatted messages, and receive notifications whenever there is a post within the channel.
Office 365 applications and services are integrated within the solution, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. Scheduling capabilities, integrated availability calendar, adding recurrence and more are available within Microsoft Teams, which also has support for open, public teams within an organisation, in addition to being customisable. Furthermore, Microsoft supports global security standards.
