HERE Maps Migration Overview for Grey Matter Customers
News|by Gabrielle Alvear|10 November 2023
Change is just around the corner and it’s time for you to update and modernise your HERE applications.
We are working closely with HERE Technologies to migrate all of our Grey Matter customers using HERE solutions onto Platform and to give our customers the most up to date information regarding their migration.
Please keep this page bookmarked for the latest advisories from our dedicated mapping team. As a benefit to being a Grey Matter partner we will be the ones to manage your migration process so you can leave it with us to take care of the transition. This means you do not need to migrate on your own.
For any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our team at here@greymatter.com
The Latest Migration Updates
- New pricing plans and service rates have been introduced. On the HERE platform's HERE Base Plan, each service has an individual transaction fee. Unlike the previous billing method on the HERE developer portal where every transaction had equal value across all services, the HERE platform eliminates the need for this equivalency. For more information on pricing and billing, see Customer billing and pricing.
- Note that the HERE SDK 3.x (Starter Edition and Premium Edition) will be discontinued and any software that uses those applications won't work after the migration as they aren't supported on the HERE platform. Current users of HERE SDK 3.x should migrate to HERE SDK for Android (Explore Edition) or HERE SDK for iOS (Explore Edition).
Overview of your Next Steps
In this HERE Technologies Migration Overview, we have outlined three defined action items:
- Premium SDK Updates: HERE Premium SDK (3.x) users must update to v4.x SDK. DO NOT migrate on your own. Please contact your Account Manager first who will create a new plan and App Keys on the HERE Platform in order for you to complete the update.
- API Updates: All customers need to ensure they have updated to the latest versions of their HERE APIs. The full list of APIs that need to be updated are outlined below.
- HERE Platform Migration: Grey Matter and HERE Technologies will manage the migration to Platform for existing customers between January to March 2024. Please do not set up your own instance. Your Account Manager will take care of that process and reach out to you. Further details below.
If you have a dedicated HERE Account Manager, reach out to them for guidance with migration and do not start the process on your own. You can also send us an email at here@greymatter.com and our team will be happy to provide assistance.
For more information please refer to the HERE Migration Guides on the website for further guidance with the process.
Migrating to Platform in 2024
The HERE Platform is now open and provides an integrated experience of advanced tools, an ecosystem of collaborators, and location data and services all in one place.
As such, for existing customers, Grey Matter will be working together with HERE Technologies to migrate your current credentials to the HERE Platform between January and March 2024. Your account manager will reach out to you during this time. Your service will not be affected.
Be assured that due to the complexity of this migration, Grey Matter will take care of the platform migration process. Please do not create your own HERE Platform instance. If you would like to migrate earlier, please discuss with your Account Manager to see if this is possible.
We look forward to welcoming you to the new and improved HERE Platform experience.
