20 years of IntelliJ IDEA
Blog|by Leanne Bevan|20 January 2021

JetBrains launched IntelliJ IDEA in 2001 as one of the first Java IDEs with advanced code navigation and reliable code refactorings to make development more productive and enjoyable. Now, 20 years later in 2021, IntelliJ IDEA is used by over 4 million developers across the world.
IntelliJ IDEA is a Java and JVM IDE that provides support for enterprise, mobile, and web development. It also understands and provides intelligent coding assistance for a large variety of other languages such as SQL, JPQL, HTML, JavaScript, etc., even if the language expression is injected into a String literal in your Java code.
The IDE predicts your needs and automates the tedious and repetitive development tasks, so you can stay focused on the big picture.
