International Women’s Day 2024
News|by Leanne Bevan|8 March 2024

Friday 8 March 2024 marks International Women’s Day (IWD) 2024. A day to celebrate the achievements of women, highlight the gender gaps and inspire change.
Theme
This year’s theme is “inspire inclusion”.
What does this mean? According to the IWD organisation to inspire inclusion means to celebrate diversity and empowerment.
Women in Tech/STEM
Here at Grey Matter, we are particularly keen to focus on the Women in Tech/STEM aspect of this awareness day. We were shocked to discover that in the recent JetBrains developer ecosystem survey, only 5% of developers are women, out of 26,000 respondents. There is so much more that needs to be done to drive more inclusion of women in the developer community.
How Grey Matter supports women’s inclusion and equality
In terms of how we inspire inclusion and equality here at Grey Matter and as part of our parent entity, Climb Global Solutions, Sue O’Leary, our Director or Team Engagement and Experience says: “I think we are receptive to all employees being able to have a voice – not just women. We enable open and honest communication where people can speak freely and be heard.
As an organisation we have partnered with women in the channel and have had several women leaders go through the programme of development.
42% of our senior leadership team is women and we have four women at director level in the UK and Ireland.”

Grey Matter is also planning a Women in Tech Roundtable event in London in June. If you’re interested in finding out more about this event, please email us.

Native performance – why it still wins in a cross-platform world
Cross-platform development has never been stronger. Modern frameworks let teams ship applications across Windows, macOS, iOS and Android from a shared codebase – faster, leaner and with fewer moving parts. But when performance is part of the product, portability alone isn’t enough. If...
Location Intelligence as application infrastructure
Location intelligence is no longer a feature bolted onto asset‑centric platforms. In 2026, it’s core application infrastructure. As asset tracking moves beyond logistics into regulated, distributed and high‑value environments, software teams need location intelligence that delivers real‑world context, not just coordinates. This shift is redefining how modern applications manage risk, automation and scale.
