Kai 1.1.2 is here – put AI to work in your development workflow
Blog|6 November 2026

AI development tools are evolving quickly. The real opportunity isn’t simply having access to AI – it’s finding practical ways to use it to make development faster, easier and more productive.
That’s where Embarcadero Kai comes in.
With Kai 1.1.2, Embarcadero continues to develop its AI-powered experience for developers, helping teams bring AI into their existing development workflow rather than making it another disconnected tool to manage.
For developers, that means a simple ambition: spend less time wrestling with repetitive work and more time building great software.

AI that fits the way developers work
The best development tools don’t add complexity. They remove it.
AI can help accelerate everyday development tasks, but its value comes from how naturally it fits into the workflow. Developers shouldn’t have to constantly jump between applications, copy information from one place to another or break their concentration just to get useful assistance.
Kai is designed around bringing AI closer to the development experience, helping developers make productive use of AI while staying focused on the job at hand.
That matters whether you’re working on an established application, tackling a growing backlog or looking for smarter ways to increase your team’s development capacity.
Why Kai 1.1.2 matters
There’s plenty of noise around AI. For development teams, the more useful question is much simpler: what can it do for us?
Tools such as Kai point towards a development experience where AI becomes a practical assistant rather than a technology experiment.
Used effectively, AI-supported development can help teams:
- make repetitive development work less of a distraction
- maintain momentum when tackling complex problems
- give developers another way to explore and understand code
- increase capacity without simply adding more tools and processes
- keep more attention on innovation and the applications that create value
It’s not about replacing developers. It’s about helping good developers get more from their time. And that’s a much more interesting proposition.
What's new in Kai 1.1.2?
The new features and capabilities include:
- Authentication directly in Kai Chat – Sign in to AI agents without leaving the conversation, with Reauthenticate and Logout options available from the chat tab context menu.
- Image and file attachments – Drag and drop images into Kai Chat or use the attachment button. This enables use cases such as giving an AI agent a UI mock-up and asking it to recreate the corresponding Delphi form. Supported agents can also work with documents, audio files and other attachments.
- Collapsible AI reasoning – Agent reasoning blocks are now automatically collapsed, helping conversations stay tidier and easier to follow.
- Permission requests inside the chat – Requests to approve agent operations now appear directly in the conversation rather than in separate IDE message boxes, making multi-step agent tasks less disruptive.
- Expanded MCP integration with RAD Studio – AI agents get more control over project compilation through the compileProjects operation, including the target platform, build configuration and build mode. Build modes include Make, Build, Check, MakeUnit, Clean and Link.
- Improved debugging integration – The evaluateExpression MCP operation has been updated for more consistent behaviour when AI agents interact with RAD Studio during debugging.
- Better local AI support – Kai 1.1.2 improves integration with LM Studio and Ollama, particularly for longer, agentic operations involving multiple tool calls.
- Updated Native LM Studio ACP agent – Improved configuration and tuning includes settings for request timeouts and maximum agent operation turns, helping longer-running local AI tasks complete successfully.
- Improved handling of AI-edited files – RAD Studio is better at detecting changes when Kai agents modify source files, including files that are already open in the editor.
- Kai Chat UI improvements – Fixes address painting and layout issues, particularly when docking and undocking the chat pane, alongside improved context-menu options for copying conversations.
- Improved Codestral FIM support – Enhancements improve inline code completion when using Codestral FIM.
- Better support for non-English IDEs – Tool names now display correctly in permission requests when using non-English versions of RAD Studio.
- Codex session restoration fix – Kai can restore Codex sessions when using mapped VirtualBox network drives, addressing UNC path mismatches.

Already using Embarcadero? Take a closer look at Kai
If Delphi or other Embarcadero technologies are already part of your development environment, Kai is worth exploring as you consider where AI could fit into your development strategy.
Rather than adopting AI for its own sake, start with the problems you actually want to solve. Where does your team lose time? Which repetitive tasks interrupt more valuable work? Where could developers use an extra pair of hands?
Then look at whether Kai can help.
It’s a more practical route to AI adoption – and much more likely to deliver useful results.
