SQL Server 2025 lands early on CSP – get ready to move fast
News|17 December 2025
Great news for our partners: SQL Server 2025 is arriving sooner than expected! We originally advised availability in January 2026, but Partner Center has confirmed that CSP partners can start purchasing from 17 December 2025.
If you don’t see it yet, don’t worry – time zones are likely the culprit (it’s still 16 December in the US).
SQL Server 2025 pricing
No surprises here: SQL Server 2025 keeps the same pricing as SQL Server 2022. That means you can plan offers and bundles with confidence.
Transition Timeline
- SQL Server 2022 End of Sale: 21 January 2026
- Customers can continue purchasing SQL Server 2022 until 20 January 2026.
- Both versions will feature in the January pricelist, giving you flexibility during the transition.
SQL Server 2025: Built for the future of data and AI
SQL Server 2025 takes a confident step forward from 2022, blending trusted enterprise-grade security and performance with next-generation AI capabilities. For the first time, AI is integrated directly into the database engine. This means you can run semantic searches, ask natural language questions, and manage models within T-SQL without breaking stride.
With native vector search and DiskANN optimisations, you can deliver fast, efficient similarity searches without relying on GPU – making AI workloads more accessible than ever. Developers can accelerate intelligent app development with built-in support for frameworks like LangChain and Semantic Kernel.
And that’s not all. Real-time change event streaming, native JSON support for large objects, and optimised locking for better concurrency simplify operations and unlock richer insights.
SQL Server 2025 is ready for hybrid environments, giving you scalability, flexibility, and faster time-to-value for modern, data-driven applications.
What’s Next?
Now’s the time to get ahead:
- Review your use of SQL Server 2022 and map upgrade paths.
