Microsoft has introduced GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Advanced Security metered service offerings
News|by Kieran Hollingsworth|31 July 2024
From 1 August 2024, Microsoft will expand the GitHub product portfolio available as metered services on Azure. Microsoft is doing this in order to broaden the scope of services available to customers, including GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Advanced Security.
Access the GitHub portfolio as metered services
Previously, GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Advanced Security were only available through Microsoft as subscription-based offerings. Now, customers can get access to GitHub as Azure metered services through their Enterprise Agreement, Modern Commerce Agreement, or their CSP channel.
These new introductions will enable customers to benefit from a seamless billing experience, on-demand self-provisioning and pay-as-you-go pricing, as well as broader access to GitHub products through more Microsoft channels.
Azure and GitHub for developers
Microsoft is committed to delivering comprehensive, flexible, and customer-centric solutions. Azure and GitHub bring together the best in code and Integrated Development Environments together with AI-powered developer platforms and leading cloud platforms to provide an integrated, end-to-end experience enabling customers to innovate at scale.
Licensing Gitub
It’s now possible to license the entire GitHub product portfolio as metered services on Azure. That means you can purchase GitHub via your Cloud Solution Provider (that's us!) which presents a much easier procurement route.. If you’re currently purchasing Azure on CSP, you can now use your Azure subscription ID to pay for GitHub products. Your usage will then be reflected in your Azure bill.
GitHub Enterprise is a prerequisite to many other add-ons, such as GitHub Copilot, Codespaces, Actions, Packages, and Advanced Security.
Want to purchase GitHub via CSP? Contact our team, we'd be happy to guide you through the process.
