Microsoft 365 Pricing Changes
News|2 September 2021
Microsoft is introducing price changes for Microsoft 365 from 1 March 2022.
What are the changes?
- Microsoft 365 Business Basic will increase from $5 to $6 per user
- Microsoft 365 Business Premium will increase from $20 to $22 per user
- Office 365 E1 will increase from $8 to $10 per user
- Office 365 E3 will increase from $20 to $23 per user
- Office 365 E5 will increase from $35 to $38 per user
- Microsoft 365 E3 will increase from $32 to $36 per user
Why is Microsoft increasing the price per user?
In 2017 Microsoft launched Microsoft 365 to bring together the best of Office, Window and Enterprise Mobility and Security (EM+S). In the same year, Microsoft launched Microsoft Teams. Since then, Microsoft has added 24 apps to the suites included in Microsoft 365 and released over 1,400 new features and capabilities to enhance communication and collaboration, security and compliance, and AI and automation.
This price increase will be the first substantive pricing update to reflect the continued investment that Microsoft has made in Microsoft 365 since its launch.
Extended audio conferencing capabilities
Additionally, Microsoft Teams will have unlimited dial-in capabilities added in the next few months for enterprise, business, frontline and government licences. This is currently only included with Microsoft 365 E5 and Office 365 E5.
