January 2023 marks the end of the extended period of support for Windows 7.
Windows 7 Extended Security Updates, first announced in January 2020, was introduced as a last resort for customers who were still using legacy Microsoft products past the end-of-support deadline.
The following Windows 7 products are affected:
- Windows 7 SP1
- Windows 7 Professional for Embedded Systems
Microsoft has explicitly stated that support will not be extended past 10 January 2023.

Why is it important to upgrade from Windows 7?
Upgrading to a newer version of Windows before 10 January 2023 is important for your business’ cyber security. This is because Microsoft will not be releasing regular security updates for Windows 7 after this date, leaving those still using Windows 7 open to security threats such as cyber-attacks.
Another reason you should consider upgrading is because Windows 10 helps your business improve productivity and enables you to deliver value to your customers, easier.
